Drawing Cherubs!

It's approaching that time of year again, when Bible artists are receiving requests for angel images. I've been working on some for our latest Nativity picture story.

Following some recent comments about illustrating cherubs, I thought that Nikolaj from Belgium might like to see a literal interpretation of cherubim based on the description given in Ezekiel ch10, by Artist Robert Forrest. This picture is from the Bible Story magazine, #11. © Look & Learn 2007. Click on the picture for a larger image.

Could this be what the cherubs looked like on the Mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant?

Hahah! Cool!

I thought you would feature that one. I had stumbled across it recently thanks to the links to other artwork-pages in the sidebar of this site!

I think it's a beautiful illustration!
Thank you very much!

I might attempt it myself, once I have time, and if God permits.

I'm glad it's inspired you Nikolaj!

This is a vivid portrayal. Doesn't look much like a UFO though! :)))

My daughter Hannah just said that she prefers the 'fat babies with wings' interpretation!

I've just realized what you meant Paul!
You are referring to Erich Von Daniken's 'Alien visitation' theory!
(Von Daniken thought that Ezekiel was describing flying saucers!)

My brother bought his book 'Chariots of the Gods' when we were kids.
It sold over 40 million copies!
Yes, a very strange UFO indeed!

Yes I was referring to Daniken and various ufologists who see in Ezekiel's description of the cherubs a UFO. And I agree with Hannah. This literate visual representation of cherubs is quite unsettling. The fat babies with wings can be quite unsettling as well!! :))
40 millions copies? Wow! I know how difficult it is for an author to sell a thousand books, never mind 40 million.

You'll have to come up with a new theory Paul!
