Shana Tova!

It's the Jewish New Year once again so "Shana Tova" to our Jewish readers and especially those Jewish Bible artists who regularly visit this blog. Rosh Hashanah, (the Feast of Trumpets), begins today as we enter into the Hebrew year 5772.

Once again the situation in Israel is critical, and again the situation has not been helped by the biased reporting of the media. If you're fed up of the distorted reports coming out of the BBC then check out Honest Reporting. I was pleased to read an article by Dr Denis MacEoin addressed to the Edinburgh University Student Association putting them right concerning their boycott of Israel. Check it out here. We need more 'informed' people commenting in the news arena.

L'Shana Tova Tikosevu! (May you be inscribed for a good year!). Pray for Israel!

Thanks,

But just so you know, in Pentateuch, the new year begins in spring, on the 1st of Abib.

Term "rosh hashana" is used only in relation to the 1st month of the year. Not the 7th. See Ex. 12:2.

This holiday is actually called "Tkufot Hashana" (lit. turning of the year) in the pentateuch. See Ex. 23:16 or Ex. 34:22.

Thus, I wish you good rest of the year.

Thanks Sigalov
Chabad.org has Rosh Hashanah down for Sept 28-30 so maybe you should 'Ask the Rabbi'.
Let me know what they say.

Sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean.

Btw, if you ever going to release mid-size thumbnails of your bible illustrations, let me know.

I can put up those of the tabernacle on my blog. If you want, of'course.

Graham, Thank you for this information. I don't believe my country understands how important Israel is to us. Especially not our 'leaders'. These leaders seem to fit Jesus' description in Matthew 15:14 -- Let them alone: they are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both shall fall into a pit. --Problem is, they want to take us all down with them...

Absolutely right Deboraw the UK is the same. When I heard that Tony Blair was going to be peace envoy to the Middle East I knew we were in big trouble!

I use the Hebrew words "MOADIM LE SIMCHA" (Happy Holidays) good for the Jewish holidays.
Today I greet you "GMAR HATIMA TOVA" (To be written for good in the day of Atonement in the book of Life).

I'd like to join with my link akalderon-arts.com the list of the Jewish Bible illustrators but I didn't find instructions how to do it. Can you do it for me !
